Children's Programs
We nuture children's spiritual growth starting with Baptism, then onward through nursery, sunday school, and related programs like Vacation Bible School, youth choir, and the Christmas Program. Join us in fostering faith and community.
Baptism
Baptism is the initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body, the Church, and is an adoption into God's family. The sacrament is administered during the Holy Eucharist. Details for Parents and Godparents are here.
Nursery - Infant to Preschool
Nursery care is part of the early faith journey; it provides a safe, loving experience that forms early impressions of God and the church. At St Andrew's, children share in making music as part of a mini church school lesson, using the Musik Garten curriculum.
Sunday School -Preschool through 5th Grade
Sunday school is an integral part of Christian formation, helping children grow in scripture, prayer, worship, and belonging. We use the Illustrated Ministry's Mini Revolution curriculum. Children rotate through a lesson, craft activity, music, and group project, before joining their family in Church when the Peace is exchanged. Classes begin 15 minutes before the 10:00 A.M. Holy Eurcharist. A registration form can be found here.
Youth Music - Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Our youth music program helps children grow in faith by learning liturgy and music, and building community through singing. Membership in the church is not required for children to participate. The Youth Choir performs in the church during our Family Services and on special holidays. Rehearsals in the Youth Choir room begin after Communion on Sundays and conclude at 11:30 a.m.
Vacation Bible School - Preschool through 4th Grade
St Andrew's offers a week-long Vacation Bible School each summer. Through Bible stories, music, crafts, games, and prayer, children grow in faith, build friendships, and discover God's love. We also welcome volunteers to help during this time of learning, singing, and fun. For more information, contact XXX.
Acolyte Program - 5th Grade
Our acolyte program invites children and youth to participate directly in the 10:00 A.M. Eucharist by assisting the clergy and lay ministers. Acolytes may carry the cross or candles, and assist at the altar during preparations for the Eucharist. After training, Acolytes will participate in 12-15 services per year. Youth Programs
Youth formation at St. Andrew's is structured to help youth move toward adulthood with God at the center of their lives. We use the TBC curriculum.
High School Students
High School students fully participate in worship services at St. Andrew's and are also invited to assist in the nursery, Sunday School classes, and Vacation Bible School. They also may serve as acolytes.
Additional service opportunities include volunteering with Feed My Starving Children and the West Suburban Humane Society. High School youth can also participate in St. Andrew's mission trips.
Youth Confirmation Classes
Confirmation is the liturgical rite, celebrated by a Bishop, in which individuals make a mature affirmation of their baptismal vows and commit to living a Christian life as adults.
Confirmation classes are open to all high school youth who are in nine grade or older and have not previously been confirmed.
By choosing to be confirmed, our youth are committing to:

learn more about their faith and how it is lived out in the Episcopal tradition

attend the Confirmation preparation classes, and
-
participate in the Confirmation ceremony during the Bishop’s visit

Parents' Day Out
Parents’ Day Out is a structured program for children ages 2 to 4, that gives parents time for their own activities. Any member of the community is eligible to enroll. Find additional information here.
